![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sarah Palin packs in the crowds, and certainly has a very strong following, but she is also a very polarizing force. You either love her or hate her and not all Republicans love her. So now we see another strong conservative voice come from a reasonably unknown woman, and from the unlikely liberal state of Minnesota: Michele Bachmann. Both of these ladies seem to have good solid conservative values at their core and both seem to be to the 'right' of the leadership of the GOP. The more I see of Michele Bachmann the more impressed I am. And while I love Mrs Palin for her ability to fire up a crowd and her strong following I have to question if she can be effective given some of the dark clouds over her. I think Sarah Palin has paved the way and opened the door for others, she has shot holes through the glass ceiling and shattered that proving that women can be strong, can achieve and can stand up for right. But I don't think that she is considered credible by many . . . so that brings us back to Michele Bachmann. She is a rising star, outspoken, and without the baggage of Sarah Palin. Does anyone else see her as a viable VP candidate for 2012? Or even presidential candidate? She might be a great running mate along side of Huckabee or Pence. Thoughts? |

| Always Out-Numbered Never Out-Gunned ![]() | She'd be a good match for Pence, but I don't think she'd play well with Huckabee... While he is a social conservative, he is for bigger gov't

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think one of the big things with Gov. Palin is that she seems to be just one of the regular people. That appeals to many. She did a good job in her big speech and really connected with those listening. I do think she got a bum rap during the campaign because of the media. I don't think anyone else I am aware of was subjected to the treatment she or her family received. That was a damn shame! Michelle Bachmann also comes across as an astute person. She always hits the topics right. No matter who the person is running in 2012 they will be on the direct end of the liberal reach. What I would like to see is Someone like Fred Thompson for President and a real sharp women as VP. Kind of like a Reagan/Thatcher match-up. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I see the many reasons why people love Palin. I'm not one of those people. And I won't vote for her ticket regardless of whom she is the running mate for. I do tend to vote anti democratic party, but the republicans don't make it an easy choice. Bachmann seems more real to me. A little more sincere. She's had her nutty moments and there will be more. But I'm hoping good things from her. Bobby Jindal would be of interest to me. Can't see it in my mind yet, but there's time for others to shake themselves out. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Can't see anyone on the horizon that looks like a savior to me. Fred Thompson is great on policy, but I don't see him putting in the 60 hour days to actually run a campaign and win. Palin's heart is in the right place, but I haven't seen any evidence of her doing the homework. A lot of her moves and a lot of her speeches come off like something she just had a sudden impulse to do five minutes ago. Again, I agree with most of her impulses but I don't think she can win the White House shooting from the hip all the time. Every once in a while you have to take your time and aim before you pull the trigger. Jindal seems like a fairly bright guy, but I think it's a mistake to believe he is going to break down racial barriers or draw a "diversity" vote. Those people will consider Bill Clinton a more genuine African-American than they would any conservative of any color. The hard core brokers of the race vote, like Sharpton and Jesse, have no love whatsoever for a "conservative of color:" and they'd rather elect a white Klansman than someone with brown skin and right-leaning politics. Honestly I am not sure at this point whether the GOP is worth saving. I haven't seen any evidence of them getting a clue yet. They called the other day asking for donations, and I said I wanted to see them standing for real conservative principles before they got another dime from me. Dude wound up yelling at me. Great fund raising tactics, Cletus.

i know of people who voted for clinton b/c he was "cute and voted for obama b/c he was the new popular thing or cute or black. if you are going to back either of these women, that is fine. but do it b/c of issues. most of which i agree with.
