I have been reading about the proposed changes and it started me thinking about what I would use instead of my single shot .44mag.

I assume most would pickup a nice bolt action rifle.

I myself am thinking about a Ruger American in .270.

    What about everyone else?

Sorry to say I have not been following the possible new regulations. Do yo have a link to them or a link to a summary?

I'll stick with my bow, I have no desire to shoot a deer with a gun. Not knocking anyone who does but I'm in it more for the hunt than the meat or kill and I like the challenge of getting within bow range.

Won't change a thing my Mathews bow, Rem. 11-87 and My muzzleloader... Ive killed many deer with them for years, why change just because the laws could change.... All I see from this possible new law is more poachers... Just my 2 cents

Depending where I am hunting either my Browning leveraction 308 or my savage weather warrior 300 win mag. I may even try my SKS or AK

    anything from the .308 family
    .243, .260, 7mm-08, .308

everything you need, nothing you don't need.

But as most others say, there's no NEED to change - although it would be nice in some circumstances.

I've been wanting a .308 for a while now. This rule change has my wife pushing me to get it instead of "why do you need another rifle?".

am I the only one around here that would be using a Mosin? Or am I not reading the proposed law correctly?

Im not a rifle man but I think the Mosin would qualify.

You've peaked my interest. Looks like they are fairly inexpensive.

What should I look for in one of these?

While the .44 marlin has proven effective, variety is the spice of life. I think I'd have to try my .243 for deer instead of coyotes. Although, the 45/70 with some big cast bullets might be fun to try.
