For Christmas I bought the wife a Nikon coolpix 500 point and shoot...Monday we closed on our land next to Hoosier National Forest and as we were driving down the gravel road I glanced to my right and saw a patch of white where there shouldn't be about 75 yards in the woods...I asked wife to hand me her camera and snapped this pic...Lots of brush and trees in the way and the zoom was way out and my hand was a little shaky...Still managed to snap a couple of pics where I was able to hold still long enough to get a decent pic...

Excellent. Nothing like the first pic of a baldy. I took one along the Wabash and still remember the excitement!

It is a thrill to see one. We see one regularly here in our area of Morgan County. While I love turkey hunting, I'm glad Ben Franklin didn't get his way and have the turkey be our nation's symbol.

That's pretty cool. What is that brown thing that looks like it is hanging under him?

Looks like the underside of its tail feathers.

Awesome pic! Love seeing them in the wild. We've got a nesting pair here in Greenfield that I usually see at least once or twice a week.

I was working on a project around the gravel pits on the north side of Indianapolis a few years ago.... While waiting for the rest of the crew to show up, a guy caught me staring out the window....

    "What are you doing "

"I'm watching that bald eagle hunt"

    "That's not a bald eagle...that's a hawk".

"Close ... You might want to watch this."

The eagle took a dive and grabbed a fish shortly later....

Birds of prey are amazing creatures.

    That's Awesome. Nice Pic.

Last week my wife saw one take a small critter off a farm outside Palmyra. I was like no....are you sure it wasn't a Hawk.

Come to find out it is nesting at Buffalo Trace Park. Right in town.

Bald Eagles are Awesome. enough said.!

Really neat. By I-94 and Kennedy ave in Highland in, there are several acres of dead trees that are the nesting place of white egrets during the summer. The Nikon is a great point and shoot camera.
