I am in the process of refinishing my newly acquired Tokarev TT-33. It is coming along splendidly, besides one thing; I seem to be having problems finding a way of filling the hole of the after-market safety. I was wondering if there are any other Tok owners out there with experience and/or advice on how to do this seemingly impossible task.

Also, when I'm done, I will post pics so you can all enjoy my newly acquired love, and its modern look. I'm very excited to see the outcome.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Funny you should post this thread, as I just found a video regarding the removal of the import safety the other day. There are two parts and are pretty descriptive. Good luck! :D

    Part 1:

YouTube - Tokarev TT33, Romanian Cugir pistol, safety removal and hole fill in, Part One.

    Part 2:

YouTube - Tokarev TT33, Romanian Cugir pistol, filling in safety through holes, Part Two of Two.

This last video shows him shooting the pistol after the safety was removed and talks about a few other things regarding the project's completion.

As far as filling the hole...

Seems to me like you'd either have to have it tapped and a screw installed and then brazed over... Or have the hole brazed over by itself.

The brazing could then be sanded and polished down and ready to refinish with the rest of the gun.

    Thanks for the replies...

The gun is mostly finished and is looking mighty fine. I should be able to post pictures tomorrow.

    PICTURES!!!

So here is the deal. I took some pictures with my phone's camera, they didn't turn out so good, but here they are. I will take better pictures when I find the camera.

    Here are the specs...
*High temp paint, baked for durability
*Handcrafted walnut grips (Fruitwood stain, hand rubbed poly clear)
*Manually jeweled barrel and receiver (hard to see)
*Small plugs to fill after-market safety hole.
    *Total time spent ~18hrs

    enjoy the crappy pictures...
