![]() | 1911 SA Mil Spec Parkerized Needs a Gunsmith Recommendation Just bought a SA Mil Spec Parkerized. It's my first 1911 type and I love it. I've fired 100 rounds of hardball, and its works great. No hammer bite (but it gets might close sometimes if I grip the pistol nice and high) but I've encountered one major problem, and that is with the grip safety. When I grip the pistol with by thumb resting on the thumb safety, my hand is high enough on the grip that sometimes I don't depress the grip safety far enough to disengage and fire. Ok at the range, but a no no for self defense. Therefore, I would like to get a beavertail grip safety installed (most have that little bump out on the bottom to make it easier to depress the safety). While I'm at it, I would like to have the slack on the trigger taken up as well, if possible. Can anyone recommend a competent gunsmith in the Indianapolis area for this kind of work? Thanks. |
