    which would it be?

Lets say in the future we were limited to only be able to own one.

Which would you choose for carry, shooting steel, home protection and anything else you use one for.

    What's your workhorse?

My avatar. With your Glock, you will get the girls with tatoos, with my Kimber I will get the girls that smell good!

If you could only have one, you would have to prioritize what activities were most important. Prime concerns would include the ability to hunt, carry, and use for home defense. A 4" S&W .357 is a great choice. I would also consider a S&W Mountain Gun in 44, but I think those are N frame, which is a little harder to tote. This pretty much neglects the "competition" category, but I doubt you could find one gun that would do well across all categories.

It would have to be one of my .357 mag. Smith & Wesson revolvers. They are the most versatile handguns that I own. I could carry, target shoot, or hunt with them. I really like those 3" stainless steel revolvers. A plus for me is that I know how to work on them.

    K frame .357

Best all around gun I don't own yet would be a mid frame S&W .357 magnum. You could hunt, carry, or plink with it. Though not the best in any category at least is scores something in EVERY category.
