value of russian mak

hello out there i own a russian mak, and am thinking about trading it in for another fire arm, what is it worth? and do you think a gun shop would take at a fair price?

Russian military, or with the Baikal (commercial) markings? If the latter, is it single or double-stack, and .380 or 9x18? What kind of grips? Overall condition?

All these things will factor into its value.

Military or commercial... Easy way to tell is if it has fixed rear sights = military. Adjustable = commercial.

Military versions are always going to bring a higher price than commercial, given equal condition.

The above may not ALWAYS be true, but the rear sight is a BIG indicator of which version.

Yup. And if it is military, you should be sure that it's Russian and not the more common Bulgarian; the two are almost identical in appearance, save for the arsenal mark and a couple other small details.

For what it is worth - keep it! A dealer will not give you the value for your Mak, most don't understand the positive aspects of the Mak and lastly, you will hate yourself for getting rid of it.

The 9x18 (if that is what you have - they come in .380) is a good round. It fits between the .380 (9x17) and the true 9mm (9x19). There are probably others more qualified to discuss the ballistics than I.

Well cared for, they will give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Nice Maks r3126!

This is my Russian commercial in 9mm Mak and still all stock. I paid $300 out the door for it. It's a keeper.

Suddenly, I'm feeling an urge to start a Mak collection I've only fired one, it was snappier than I expected, but accurate and pleasant to shoot. Wouldn't mind one (or a few) at all.

I like those wood grips. Where'd you get them? I have the original grips and some aftermarket rubber ones.

I snagged both of mine up pretty cheap. $125 - $175 range several years ago though.
