I see a lot of posts for best 1911 for under a certain price. What would you recommend for a high end 1911? Would like to one day purchase a top shelf 1911.

Lots of great 1911's on the high price end. It is a long list and we all know the names. They run full page ads.

But I have always wanted to call Neil Keller in Decatur Indiana and tell him to build me a perfect one and price is no object.

Les Baer premier II and $100 of quality ammo. That should take you to $2000. The Premier II is the highest value of the market in my opinion. All performance, no long list of colors, grips and options to try to push the price closer to $3000. You can get it in any color you like, as long as you like the color it is made in.

That double barrel is crazy. I like stuff that is different. That is for sure. There's also the Coonan.357 1911. As far as top end I've seen the Wilson's, Nighthawks, Baer's. Other than the full size ad guys, didn't know if there was others I was missing out on.

What else would you expect from INGO? :dunno:

OP, take a look on gunbroker.com and customize your search for 1911's over $2,000. Then google the make/model for more info..........or wait for Churchmouse to show up.

Both good suggestions. I will have to do that.

Recommendation for a high end 1911? I'll probably never know...at least with first hand knowledge.

The Les Baer lineup is probably the best value in semi custom pistols.

I really like the Wilson Combat Tactical Elite. I might be biased but it is still the sexiest gun I have ever held.

I am very happy with my Springfield professional model operator. It was right at 3000.00 mark and is an amazingly tight yet extremely reliable pistol with a very nice look to it. The Springfield custom shop boys do good work.

No need to spend $2000 in a 1911 when one for $400 will out shoot it all day long.

Parts come form the same place anyway

I am so glad that is in Purple.

OP.....2k on up. Open end on this. At 2K I am in for the Les Baer.............If open ended the sky is the limit kind of thing I can only....................

So many nice offerings in that range.
