![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New P22 - Now what? I just picked up a new P22 and am going to take it to the range tomorrow. After hearing how much fun these are supposed to be, I had to give one a shot. Now, I have to wonder; Is this, yet another, sickness that will need addressed? I bought a Mosin in January, now I have 6. I bought an AR last month and now want another. I bought a 10/22 back in February and am planning some upgrades. Is this another outlet for my rapidly dwindling income? On a more serious note, other than being fun to shoot, what kind of accuracy can I expect? It's the 3 1/2 inch barrel, so, I'm assuming it will not hold a candle to my 5" 1911. Also, would this make a decent backup gun for the 1911 in daily carry mode or is the .22 just not strong enough to do well in a backup role?

| Grandmaster ![]() | The only sickness I got with mine was a need for more .22 ammo. I love shooting it. And it doesn't hurt the wallet. You however, might have a problem. I can keep it on the paper at 25 yards but I've never tried to get great groups with it. I have the 5 inch and I haven't seen any difference between the 3 1/2 and the 5. I don't know about a backup gun BUT it is great for drawing/shoot/off hand shoot/any type of learning new or old shooter. Cause it's CHEAP! HAVE FUN! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A laser? I probably will do the laser. Now, the silencer is a different story. As much as I like the idea of a silencer, that class III license would open the sickness up to way too much wallet abuse. I think I could actually rationalize the $22,000 for a .50 Cal M2 if that were an option. Heck, who needs a house when you could have a .50 and some ammo instead. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | From my experience...........the P22's are very social, and do not like to be alone. But, they are often intimidated by the "larger" calibers. So I would suggest that you pick up a companion for the P22. That way when you take out both P22's to play then "you" can also take a companion.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I like that line of thinking. Mosins are pack animals also. When I was 17 (late 70s), a friend had a .22 Luger that I loved to shoot. It might be time to find another one of those.

![]() ![]() ![]() | I got one used a couple of weeks ago. At first was having problems with feeding bulk ammo. Talking to other members, it was suggested to try Stingers. It shot them without a hitch. I was disappointed that it wouldn't shoot bulk ammo. I broke the gun down, cleaned it and took apart the magazines and cleaned them. Put it back together and shot again. I found that a full magazine of bulk still won't work but if I load the magazine with 7-8 rounds of bulk and top the magazine off with 2 CCI's it would shoot perfect. Don't know why this is, maybe it will be diffferent when it breaks totally in. It is very accurate for it's size. I was hitting the small 22 boxes at 25 yards. So I was impressed. I am happy with the pistol now!!! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just FYI... there is no Class III license. It is merely a matter of applying for and paying for the tax stamp. You have to do it for each item you buy. The only ammo my P22 works with is CCI Mini-Mags and Remington Golden Bullets. Mini-mags are relatively expensive, golden bullets are a bulk pack. It will never be a target pistol, but they are fun. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You just have to love our government. No, really, you have to love them. It's not an option anymore. If you don't, they'll send someone out and make you love them... Jackboot style.
