After settling a lawsuit, Taurus is "voluntarily" issuing a safety recall of about 1 million pistols sold from 1997-2013. These guns are not drop-safe.

During the Maroney trial the president and CEO of Taurus testified that drop tests were not conducted on the guns, Wheeles said.

    This affects the following models:

    • PT-111 Millennium
    • PT-132 Millennium
    • PT-138 Millennium
    • PT-140 Millennium
    • PT-145 Millennium
    • PT-745 Millennium
    • PT-609
    • PT-640
    • PT-24/7
I'm not impressed with how Taurus is handling this recall at this point. It is not the first time a manufacturer has had a recall (I maintain a listing as linked in my signature below), and not even the first time one was sued into issuing a recall (which is bad enough), but this is the first time I've documented a recall where the manufacturer didn't have a link and all relevant info on their web site immediately.

Truth. It's scientific fact (and possibly state law) that Taurus pistols are of much higher quality than any of the Glock pistols.

    They never do this:

    Between corn and soybean fields.
My buddy owns and carries a Taurus something or another. I pinged him on FB since he's at work right now to ask him what his model is. If his is on the list, what does he need to do? (Besides not throw it on the ground, of course)

I'll update the OP when Taurus puts out the info. Nothing yet.

    Have him call Taurus.

The gun may go off when dropped (aka "not drop safe"), but has no other known problems. If he has another option, I'd recommend not using the Taurus for carry until fixed.
