![]() ![]() ![]() | Kel-Tec PF-9 Range report Hi Guys and Girls; I thought I would post a range report on my Kel-Tec PF-9. The range was 25 ft. indoors. My first shots were with Blazer Brass 115 gn. FMJ and with a 6 O'clock bullseye hold they shot to the horizontal center of the target but were slightly left of center and I averaged 1-1/2" to 2" groups but the holes almost looked like they were torn somewhat like they may have been starting to tumble but when I pushed the paper back in place they looked normal. Then I tried some Federal 147 gn. Law Enforcement loads and was amazed at how small the groups were, 3/8 ths" center to center and perfectly round. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...el-TecPF-9.jpg I could completely cover them with a penny so I know what loads I'm going to be using. And I thought my Ruger LCP was accurate at 5/8 ths." These groups were also dead on horizontally but were slighly left of center so I made a tiny witness mark with a sharp punch dead center of the top of the slide right in front of the rear sight and then loosened the rear sight screw and moved it to the right slightly and tightened it back down and now it shoots dead center with a bulleye hold. I had no problems with the ammo but the recoil was very snappy, but I've found that I seldom remember the recoil when my mind is on something else and this is not a plinking type gun. Follow up shots might be slighly slow compared to a much heavier gun but if I do my part I shouldn't need a follow up shot, besides, were talking mili-seconds here. I find this PF-9 to be an excellent concealed carry gun for the money, it's small, it's light, and it has great white three dot sights and it's a 9 mm. I added a Crimson Trace Laser sight (because my eyes are not what they used to be) and an extra magazine and bought a couple of the finger extensions for the magazines, I didn't feel that I needed them but I bought them anyway. There were a few sharp edges on the plastic frame which I softened with my pocket knife and the trigger was starting to cause a blister on my finger from the hook at the tip of the trigger but I found a fix for it on the Kel-Tec Owners Group forum (KTOG) KTOG.Org - Kel-Tec Owners Group and that took care of that. I'm really pleased that I bought this PF-9 and would recommend it to you also. I tried a Kahr PM-9 and it was very nice but it cost a lot more and the trigger hurt me more than the PF-9 and there is no fix for it that I'm aware of. Have a great week everybody, Dan.

| Master ![]() | At 25 feet you put how many rounds through a penny sized hole? I would like to try out a PF9. I have misplaced my P11 ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you're doing 3/8" groups at 7+ yards with a pf9, then I am truly impressed. I had a p11... it went bang every time but had a trigger that would have been at home on a cap gun. 'Course, the P3AT has been much better but it is a different system. No "second strike" capability. Enjoy that gun. KTOG is your friend if you need to do anything KT related.

![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm sorry I should have taken the time to post a picture. I shoot three shot groups because ammo has gotten to precious to waste at $36.00 per box of 50. My whole intent was only to see where it was shooting, I didn't expect such tight groups. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...el-TecPF-9.jpg

![]() | I have only had one opportunity to shoot mine so I can barely hit the target with it. It takes me two or three sessions to get used to the trigger and characteristics of guns with this kind of action. Beyond that, I like mine so far. Since I got better over time with my 3AT, I am pretty sure I will do so with this one too. |
