Picked up this Colt Officers Model inscribed, To Ind. State Police From Ford Dealers of Indiana 1959. I know it's a young group on this board but I'll ask if anybody has some story on this gun and maybe others like it. I like to collect Indiana gun stuff when I can and always appreciate info.:)

    Thanks in advance.

I took the liberty of copying the photo and sent it to a friend who is retired from ISP. If he doesn't know the back story, he knows an older retired trooper who may.

Ha, handled one of these recently. Story I heard was that it was their target guns then they were sold to the public and replaced by the Trooper. Just what I heard though.

Officer's Model Match Target or something like that.

I do not know the story about that particular gun, but the Indiana State Police conducts a pistol match each year. Local businesses use to pay for and donate pistols to the winner.
