Background, I inherited this from my late brother about 15 years ago.

His son was young at the time, and his mom wanted it to go to me. (knowing that I would eventually pass it on to him) A few months ago, I decided it was time to pass it on. I just wanted to find a good deal on a replacement one for me. ;) After all, it is one fine pistol. On a whim, I stopped by a local pawn shop today. They had one in the case for $395. Box, 2 mags. No manual, not like I need one. :D Got it for $350 plus tax. :rockwoot:

It's in excellent condition. Other than these 2 minor marks, it's perfect.

Called his stepdad today and told him that I was going to pass my brother's pistol to my nephew at Christmas. Going to be a Merry Christmas. ;)

    You 'scored' indeed!!!

    Great story!!

Ive been lucky enough to pass along some family pieces with the statement that I will always pay more than they are being offered by someone else - should the recipient need some quick cash.

Thank you for sharing such a great experience.

Good on you for doing that. :yesway:

Looks like a 2000 manufacture date. Ruger Mark II Serial Number History

Thanks, Dave. I've seen that before, but I thought it was on Rimfire central.

    Awesome story!

    Thanks

Just got back from the range. Put about 160 trouble free rounds through it using
Federal bulk, 550 count box. Sights were spot on. Next up, contact local
gunsmith about getting a Ruger scope rail installed, like on the other one. Pic
at the top is an old one. Had a rail installed about 4 years ago.

Here he is shooting it at the range. Can't believe I got the brass in the air
with my phone. LOL(right under the front sight post) After we got done shooting
the pistol, I rented a FA 9mm belt fed AR for him. His first time shooting full
auto. Big grin! Then back to mom's place.

After the kids got done with their
presents I said I had one more present to give. That's when I handed him the
box. Needless to say, he was pretty stoked about it.

    I told
him to tell his younger brother that some day I hope to pass mine on to him
someday so that they could have matching pistols.
