![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sometimes you can go home again, got my SP101 back We've all made trades we've regretted, we rarely get to correct our error. Some months ago, I owned a 3" Ruger SP101 that I loved dearly. It was my favorite handgun out of all the ones I've owned. As my wife and I embarked on a series of trades to get exactly what we wanted, I traded away my SP101. Now, our trades have gotten us what we wanted in most respects, and I really liked the Beretta 92FS (not the first one I've owned) that I ended up with. But cold hard facts were that I hated me for trading my SP101, and I did NOT like my Beretta as much. I flat love revolvers, and that SP101 fit me like no other gun ever has. I loved the feel, the balance, the versatility, power and toughness. So, I put my Beretta up for trade to try to get another SP101. Not only did I get one, I got mine back, and I couldn't be more pleased. She'll not be going away again! She came back to me with a pair of Trausch grips if I wanted to try them. I've put them on, and they make a great fitting gun even better. I think they will end up fixing one of the few problems I had with my little Ruger, namely that when firing heavy recoiling loads the trigger guard would whack the front of my middle finger. The new grips position my hand better, and let me get a more full grip. They've also got subtle palm swells that fill my hand quite nicely, and when I pull the trigger my trigger finger doesn't come way back into my palm like it does with the standard grips. It's got a cutout for speedloaders which works just fine. I'll give them a try over the next couple days and see if they work as well when shooting as they do sitting in my hand. As much as I loved my Beretta, I'm just pleased as punch to have my baby back! The world just feels right with a revovler on my side I've been practicing since getting home, and she just jumps right into my hand. A trip to Lafayette Guns and Gear on Monday to pick out a holster or two another speedloader and a couple speed strips, and I'll be all hooked up. ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Thanks! There are a few more that I want, but I'm supposed to be saving for my wedding. Already got into quite of a bit of trouble for getting all these. The SP101 though is in my mind the perfect carry gun for the reasons you stated. Took a little getting used to, but I'm quite accurate with it now. I had the option of either the 3" or the 2.25" when I got it, and since I was swapping my pocket pistol at the time, I decided to go with the snubbie. Sure makes a fireball with the 125 gran .357's! Someday when I stumble upon a large sum of money, I will get a 3" also. ![]() |
