You can get a Hungarian PA-63 or Polish P64 for about half that. I had a P64 and it always went bang. The PA-63's are supposed to be super reliable as well. I always figured Mil-Surp guns are designed for performance and many have trusted their lives to them so I could as well. The P64 fit in the pocket very nicely.

Run, don't walk, and get a Taurus 85 ultra lite. It shoots great, low recoil compared to some other ultralite j frames. It fits your price range, Taurus revolvers are, overall, considered to be reliable, and there are lots of accessories for it if you choose to go that route (CT grips, holsters, etc.).

Makarov; Kahr has a model that may sell for around there, especially used. Kel-Tec PF9. I own a Mak and a Kahr (different model), and I recommend them for carry guns.

I really like the Kel-Tec P3AT. Works flawlessly. It's a carry alot, shoot a little gun. What I mean by shoot a little is that it not a quality issue but the rounds are kind of salty. They are not fancy looking but the price is great, paid $245 and the quality has been great. There were some issues with the 1st Generation (from what I read) but the Second Generations from what I have experience with are great buys!

i would suggest a s&w snubbie they are great carry guns. you shouldn't have a problem finding one under 350.
