What advantage would a striker-fired model have over the original design?

"From the picture it appears to be a hammerless 1911..."

I wonder if this could be the new releases of the Colt 1903 (.32acp) and 1908's (.380acp).
I read somewhere a few months ago that Colt had authorized another company to produce new 1903's & 1908's.

If it is, I'll take one of each please!

I've never seen any conclusive evidence that a striker-fired pistol is more reliable than a hammer-fired one. In my opinion, I think hammer-fired pistols are probably slightly more reliable.

I like the idea of a higher grip/lower bore axis 1911, but I wonder what the deal is with the grip safety/beavertail.

I may be a heretic, but I really love the idea of a striker 1911. I love 1911's but do not like to carry them. Coming from striker fired guns with no manual safety, I do not like the idea of having to disengage a safety as part of my draw.

At this point I'm very skeptical about new platforms, several pistols have failed miserably and not to mention the market is flooded right now so it is harder than its been in the past for a firearms company to succeed.

It is ugly as sin , not interested at this point a gun has to look good to even get me interested. The reason they have only showed the back half of the pistol is because the front end of it is just appalling I don't care how good it shoots. And something tells me it is going to be expensive

I actually kinda like it. Not much into striker fired guns but this may have potential. I like the looks.

Just need to try a suppressor ready model :)

I am intrigued! Thank you for posting this. I might not have paid enough attention, but he handgun market could use something new and innovative.

The concept is intriguing and lots and lots of people ask; "Why can't a striker pistol have a good factory trigger?".

Price is pretty reasonable (MSRP$1147) for a low production gun. At 34 ounces empty it should be a low recoil shooter.

Don't see where they are taking order or pre-orders; so it may still be pre-production/one offs.
