Seen online that Ruger has a couple new revolvers coming out.
    Unofficial announcement(Internet:dunno:) says .44 special GP100 and 8 shot .357 Redhawk.
Now if they would sell me some parts to do some action work and play around with these a little I might give the 8 shot gun a go in USPSA.

Maybe I'm drawing a blank here but why would they not make that in 44 mag/44 special ?

Kirk, if the other one is the alleged 8 shot .357 Redhawk with 2.75" or 3" barrel, I am ready to purchase. A 5" would be great also.

The one I cannot talk about that I shot was an eight-shot 2.75" barrel.

"I like that gun but I want a different (circle all that apply: caliber, color, color of unicorn on the logo, more tacticalness, barrel length)."

I am uncertain as to tube lengths. That will likely be decided after the big box stores that drive Ruger sales place their orders and get feedback from the customers.

I was seriously into the .44spl round as well as the .41mag more than quite a few years ago. That GP100 looks awefully tempting to me but I would most certainly have to gear up for reloading. Not sure about making that kind of commitment to a round that's been left for dead again. Might have to give it some thought.

I saw a pic of the short barrel 8 shot .357 on another sight. I don't know if it could bump my 3" adj sight gp100. It and the 41 magnum double actions are on my radar.
when I worked in a gun shop in Lafayette long ago, it was nice seeing new stuff before it came out.

Speaking of "tacticalness" and 8rnd cylinders, does anyone make 8rnd speed loaders, and would those be too bulky to carry?

I have the GP100 in 357 mag 4" and it's quite accurate. I also like that I can pack it during firearms season as a legal deer gun. It holds 6 rounds, so I am not sure the extra rounds will be much better.

I'm sure it will sell because reasons, but I'm not really sure what the point of a "snubby" with a cylinder nearly as wide as the barrel is long is. The 8 shot .357 holds zero interest to me.

I sort of see a point in the .44 as a trail gun, I guess, maybe, if I squint. If you didn't want to pack the weight of a real Redhawk and didn't need the extra oomph of the magnum. A chamber of snake shot and 4 heavy wadcutters would make a decent hiking gun. If it's better than any other offerings already out there, including the .357 GP100, dunno.

I don't think I'll be picking up either.

I've owned about every variation of a Ruger 44mag revolver at some point in my life and never quite fell in love. I loved my GP100 in 357 mag, but had to sell it and always waited/hoped for the day they'd make it in 44mag. I'd be excited through my mind if Ruger made GP100 in 44mag, but 44spl does nothing for me.

The point is to mirror the Smith line up which is enjoying decent sales for a revolver. Why Ruger selected the 2.75" tube as the lead punch, got me. Maybe the contractor had the most of those barrels? Don't know, but there will be more SKUs in this.

Wow...I think I like that approach just a slight bit better than the GP100 in .44 special...as I favor .357 magnum as a personal preference over .44 caliber.
