    Picked up this nickle plated old workhorse today, after a disassembly, cleanup and some minor repair it was sending 44-40 down range just like the earlier 38-40 project above. Both guns were made in 1902.:)

    Took the old workhorse out for some 25 yard shooting. Wasn't expecting much due to the age and bore condition but it wasn't bad. I like to shoot these guns one handed, conditioned by the western movies of my younger days. Used some factory Ultramax 44-40 and hand loads in Starline brass with a Lee 200 grain cast bullet. The gun showed a definite preference for the hand loads, some lead spitting with the other.

    I was thinking about you last evening, Leadeye. I was watching an old movie from the '30's, The Saint in New York. ;)The Saint carried a Colt 1903 in a shoulder rig.
