    Here's what I carry a lot:

    20170203_122800_zpsv2ibpmwk.jpg

I love ALMOST everything about it. And these are all non-negotiable.

    Metal frame.
    Wood grips.
    DA/SA with decocker.
    No external safety.
    It's light (alloy frame).
    It's thin.
I can get all three fingers on the grip comforatbly.
    It oozes class and style.

    What I don't like:

    It is a .380
Very rarely a hollow-point can hang up on the feed ramp.

It would be perfect if I could find one like it in 9mm and 110% reliable.

    Does such a critter exist?

The Sig P230 is blowback, which makes the design much simpler, and more compact; it would be difficult to make a typical drop-barrel pistol as thin or elegant, with the additional mechanical complexity.

That being said, the closest thing that comes to my mind that would meet your criteria is a Walther P5 compact.

    Metal frame - check
    Wood grips - check
    DA/SA with decocker - check
    No external safety - check
It's light (alloy frame) - check (although it's heavier than the p230, but that's expected for a metal frame 9mm)
    It's thin - check
I can get all three fingers on the grip comfortably - check
It oozes class and style - Subjective, but in my opinion a definite check

    Chambered in 9mm - check
110% reliable - check (it was reliable enough for several major militaries and police forces to adopt it)

Oh sure..., you might as well have listed the actual Grail, for all the likelihood that I'm going to find one that I can afford...

I think you hit a Grand Slam. I've always wanted the three P series guns. I've got the P6 and the P7 is out of reach.

But if I could buy that gun shown above, I would.

Edit: it appears the P5 is out of reach cost wise too. Sigh...

Would a Makarov be in line with what you're thinking?

Got one. Although it is a IJ-70 so it has those horrible target sights. And it is heavy and it doesn't have wood grips but I did put bakelite grips on it.

    Good thinking though.

That P230 is nice! Sig P239 with wood grips might be something you would be interested in.
