Looking for suggestions for a concealed carry .45 ACP. At the risk of incurring the wrath of everyone, I'm not a fan of 1911's. There...I said it. The truth shall set you free! Anyone have suggestions?

    I didn't know they made a .45 acp pistol that wasn't a 1911.

OP how big a gun are you looking to buy?

I know, right? I'm talking crazy and I know it!

I'm looking for something small enough to conceal yet able to hold more than 5 or 6 rounds. I usually carry IWB, but not opposed to OWB.

S&W 45 Shield; 3rd Gen S&W, XDS 45, whatever the small Glock number is...it is a long list without more criteria...Size? Some people can CCW a FN FNX 45 other people think a Shield is too big. Cost?

How about a 45 acp revolver?

Why 45? 45 is my favorite round but my everyday CCW is a Sig P938.

I really like my Springfield XD Compact Service Model .45 ACP. It unfailingly reliable. It has very manageable recoil. And the trigger is decent (though not great as it's a bit mushy). I think the Springfield's in general excel in .45 ACP. But I think you have to be okay with blockyness; though less so than Glocks, and I still think it's better looking. Also, the capacity is good on Springfields in .45. Worth considering

I conceal carry P220 compact fairly often. In addition to size, do you want metal or plastic, striker or hammer fired?

Not sure how to answer the size questions. I haven't carried a wide range of guns to know what I can conceal. For comparison, a Walther PPS M2 basically disappears on me, but my Sig P320 TACOPS grip prints like a third arm. Although I don't think anyone can conceal that beast. LOL

As for why a .45 ACP...I can only say "because I can". I've always admired the caliber, just haven't found the platform yet.

For a similar size as the pps m2, the shield .45 would be pretty close. I've been lusting over one myself. Don't know if you shoot Glocks well, but a G30 has a lot of capacity in a somewhat smaller package, although it is big in some areas. Kinda like a short girl with a big butt.

If you want big a p227, CZ 97, FNX, PPQ .45, or M&P might be more your flavor.

I'm a big 1911 fan, but I also own and like a Glock 30sf. The 30sf is a thick pistol though. I love the 10+1 nature of the thing and it's a breeze to shoot, but it's a bit of a challenge to CC one IWB. At least it is for me, but I'm also comparing it to my favorite .45 CC weapong which is a DW CCO 1911. Other than the thickness, the 30sf is definitely worth looking at.

Aside from the 1911, the 97B is the queen of the .45 world. The 1911 is king though. The 97B might be a bit tough to conceal but it sure would be a nice one to shoot.

I've tried Glocks and didn't shoot them well. However I'm a huge fan of short girls with a big butt!
