.44 Mag Semi Auto

Shot my buddies Desert Eagle the other day. Two handfulls of pistol. Anybody else make an auto feed in .44 mag. Have looked a little and can't find anything.

LAR used to offer their Grizzly Win Mag pistol in .44Mag. It has been out of production for a number of years, however.

I can't remember if Wildey makes one or not. I still think the old Automag is the best looking of the lot.

Crappy pic but shooting 2 DE .44s.

...and yes Wildey has a 44 auto mag but will cost you more than a DE.

As far as I know Wildey still makes his .44 as well as other guns. His JAWS system look remarkable and I'd love to have one. Add in the fact that he's just a heck of a guy as well as one of the foremost gunsmiths in the country and you've got a winning combo. If it cam down to it, I'd rather have a Wildey than a Desert Eagle.

One thing to remember is that the Desert Eagle actualy uses 44 Remington magnum shells which are easy to find. The AMT and Wildey 44 Automags are rimless and are made from cut down 308 brass so you either reload or pay for custom ammo.

I had fired DEs years ago and always had it on my list, if you recall I found one at a garage sale earlier in the spring.... "garage sale find". Well after a few range trips and in comparison with my Ruger Redhawk SS 7.5" that I usually deer hunt with.... no camparison at all!!!

I sold off the DE and will continue to hunt with the Redhawk, easier to shoot, more accurate and just feels right. The DEs are very impressive and a great toy for the range and wow factor but to me the 6" DE model was less than ideal for 100 yd deer hunting. YMMV.....
