test new pistol

I have been looking at adding another pistol to the inventory but I would like to try one out first. I am looking at the Sig P226, P228, and P229. Are there any gun shops that have a range that might carry these models and I would be able to rent one to try out before I buy? Also, does anyone have any opinions on the P228? It is a little smaller than the P226 but seems to be equally reliable.

where are you located? i have a 226 but live a good bit from most of the site

Pop Guns in Indianapolis has a Sig to rent, though I'm not sure if it's a 226 or just a 220. I just saw it on the rental rack the one time I was there, last year. (I live five hours away, so I haven't been back.)

I just bought a used P6 which I believe is the German MP version of a P226 with very few modifications. Some correct me if this is the case.

I just shot it today for the first time and even though it recoils harder than my XD9sc it shoots more accurate. This could be the longer barrel. Either way I like the fit to my hand and the way it carries.

I live on the NW side of Indy if you want to try it.

irishfan if you're located in the elkhart area midwest gun and range should have one to rent. I'd just give them a call.

If you are up north we will be having a group shoot on October 31 and there will be ALOT of sigs there. Cause I'll be there

I'm in east central Indiana and New Castle to be exact. I have been looking at the sigs for quite a while and have a couple XD's but I don't know anyone with Sig's to try them.

Well I have three and possibly 4 by that time. You can test the run of the mill production versions all the way up to the hand built target pistols from Germany.

The P6 is a single stack, the 226 is a double stack.

As for the 228, in my opinion, it's better balanced than a 226. I've owned both, and that extra inch of barrel or so throws the balance off significantly. I didn't really notice an accuracy different between the two, and if there is one, it's marginal.
