I'm about to partake in the glock

and purchase my very first glock. I'll be getting a G27 for my cc. Now, I was speaking to some people that are far more knowledgeable than myself regarding firearms. They agreed that glock is a good gun (not their preference though, they're sig lovers) but they've seen alot of trouble with the front sights falling off glocks. (They're a firearms instructor) So I know they've seen their fair share of guns, and talking to them for 5 seconds realize they know what they're talking about.
Long and short of this, I had not heard anywhere before this that the sights perhaps were prone to coming off? Is this a well known thing, or an older problem that has been fixed? I will probably put night sights on eventually anyway, but just trying to get all the info before I make my purchase. Are there any other potentially known or common problems regarding glocks I should know about? For the most part everything I have encountered attests to the quality and reliability of of the glock. Any insight you guys have would be great. I've fired numerous different glocks, but this will be my first purchasing and wanna know exactly what I am getting.
Thanks
