My friend's XD40, opinions?

I saw this picture of my friend's XD40 and wanted to get everyone else's opinions. Obviously I told him what I thought.

Tell him that he may or may not regret keeping the grip safety "engaged" with the slip-on.

Now he has a "glock".

Yeah, personally, I would heavily modify that Hogue to not disengage the grip safety. Or use a grip designed for that pistol.

Is that erics? I thought he had it fixed when I saw it, if thats his.

I would tell him to get rid of that grip thing and if he wants some texture have Cory from Nashgunwerrks stipple it.

Yea, that's Eric's. That's the picture he had posted, so if you have seen it recently, then maybe he has fixed it.

I just heard back from him. He took that picture before he cut the grip to fit. All is well, he is smarter than I thought.

Even if you cut the grip down to fit, I wonder if the extra thickness of the add-on grip would increase the likelihood of not depressing the grip safety.

haha. Yea i think it was a 3 weeks ago we went shooting. and it was cut. I still didnt like the way the grip moved around, just felt like it needed to be tighter on the frame.

My point exactly. I'd be worried that the grip would slide around enough to depress the safety. Better to go with something like grip stippling.

Remember Officer James Davis, the Butler officer who was killed after fighting for his own weapon? A Metro officer on this board once told me that his ripped Hogue grip was found on the ground at the scene. Who knows if that was a contributing factor, but that's enough for me to not use them.

Plus, using one with a grip safety is pointless and may look bad in court.
