I've always wondered if loading the judge with .410 shells would make it a SBS? And thus, illegal?

I don't live in Indiana, but I am fairly certain that the law applies to shotguns and rifles only and since the Judge is considered a pistol, the barrel length isn't a concern. I could be wrong though. It's happened once before.

Right, but my question is about the application of the term 'shotgun'
Is it the ability to fire multiple projectiles? Or the designation from the factory?

Here's your answer:

IC 35-47-1-11
"Shotgun"
Sec. 11. "Shotgun" means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or a single projectile for each single pull of the trigger.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32.

IIRC as long as it has a rifled barrel it would be legal.

I think we've already established that. That's why I copied an excerpt directly from the Indiana State law.

Im not as impressed with it as I thought I would be. I used to have a Thunder Five and it shot pretty much the same. The Judge seemed a little more solid though. It is fun to shoot, pretty accurate between 10-15yrds, and doesnt really have as much kick as my AMT .45acp BackUp which I DID like.

I wasn't Very impressed, but its still not a bad to have at home for a home defense gun! =-)

own one and shoot it often

I bought one for my wife and she is very fond of it. She will hit skeet with it using 71/2 shot and it is very effective as a defense handgun as measured by its penetration into wood and other objects.

I would definitely buy it again.
