Would it be worth my while to buy the XD-M in place of the XD.

All I can give you is my honest opinion. I personally do not think it's worth the money for a higher mag capacity, and interchangeable back straps. I really see no difference in the trigers either. They are both great guns, just depends on what you like and want.

I would say yes. All of the differences are subtle but add up to what is a more refined pistol. The only real difference in the trigger is the amount of travel. Both take up and over travel are reduced. I like the angle of the sides of the slide. It is wider at the bottom then it is at the top so your hand doesn't slip when working the slide. The grip texture is a little more aggressive. All this combined with a customizable grip and the largest available magazine capacity on the market.

Bradis had 2 XD M's for sale today for $399. I don't remember the caliber but it was a serious deal for someone looking.
