Kahr CW9 Recoil Pin

I recently purchased a Kahr CW9 for my wife. After 200 rounds it looked like someone took a file to the recoil pin (Rem and Blazer 115 grain FMJ - nothing special, just cheap ammo). I contacted Kahr and they sent me a new pin/spring. After 200 rounds the new pin looks the same way. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, how was the issue resolved?

Pics? Might be normal wear.

Here are pics of the wear. I wouldn't call this normal by any means, would you?

Thumbs up

Yep!!! I don't have a Kahr, but I've had similar wear patterns on several of my guns in the past. Never thought much of it as long as it goes bang every time. Keep it lubed and shoot away!!!

Mine looks about the same after 300 rounds. Actually, it was a little rough before I fired round one. I used some fine grit sand paper and smoothed it out a bit while cleaning the gun. It's ran 100%.

That pin is an excellent candidate for some dry-lube

Just so we're all on the same page here, that's the, "recoil spring guide." I wondered what in the world was being referred to before seeing the pics.

If it bothers you, you might check to see if your recoil spring has a burr on either end that you could file/polish off.

Just to follow-up here. I took a look at a couple of CW9s whose history I'm familiar with. One has 200 rounds through it. The other was purchased used and has 100 rounds through it since then (by the wear, I'd guess 400 rounds total). Both exhibit similar wear to yours, although it's confined to the finish at this point and has not yet started scratching up the recoil spring guide. The muzzle ends of both the springs felt "sharp" to me, so I think a good buffing of the end of the recoil spring should solve the problem. BTW, part of the savings of the CW9 over the P9 is less "finish". Some might think having to polish the end of their recoil spring a fair trade for saving $150+ or so on the initial purchase.
