A couple weeks ago I asked Andrew (Aszerigan) of Profire Arms and Supply / Red Star Ammo to put together some .308 Win rounds for my Rem700/AICS rifle. I asked Andrew to use 175gr Sierra Match King bullets over his choice of powder. I figured 10 boxes would be a nice round number. After picking them up at the Swap Meet I decided this afternoon would be a good time to test them.

The ammunition came nicely packaged in white boxes w/ stryofoam cartridge inserts.

I loaded my range bag, and gear. I was also planning on doing some function testing on a newly aquired SA Loaded .45 and doing a little plinking with my 5.56 SBR.

Once at the range (Fall Creek Valley CC) I warmed up with some left over test loads consisting of 155gr Scenars over 45gr Varget. While not a bad load at MOA or just a hair under, its just not as good as others in this particular rifle, and I don't have plans of using this bullet for this rifle in the future.

Ok, on to the "work" I fired a total of 20 rounds of the Red Star .308s - Three 5 shot groups, and 5 rounds looking for one shot kills on bits of broken clay target on the berm behind my target stand.:D The best group of the afternoon measured about .680" I have no doubt this load can do a little better, if I button down and do a little more on my end of the rifle.

In conclusion, I found the Red Star 175gr SMK .308 load to be very consistant and accurate. I defiantly will be purchasing more in the future. I can't say enough about Profire Arms & Supply / Red Star. Andrew is a true professional and puts together some excellent ammunition.
