![]() | Hi from Bremen Hello, my name is Steve and I live in north/east Indiana just a few minutes from Lake Michigan and just a stones throw south of South Bend. I grew up in a small farming community during the late stages of the flower-power era. Although a "city" kid, I was only 2 blocks from the great open countryside ( it was a very small "city") where I spent just about my entire childhood terrorizing the various critters that lived in/near the local ponds and woods with my trusty Crossman Powermaster BB gun. After High school, I enlisted in the US Air Force where I spent several years as a Aircraft Maint. Tech. on 2-engine fighter aircraft. I had the priveledge of getting to play with F-111, F-4, T-38 and A-37 aircraft. Most of my career was with the coolest, nastiest, yet mostly unknown little attack aircraft in the AF inventory at that time, the A-37B Dragonfly. Throughout my entire life I have been around firearms and accumulated quite an inventory before the child decided to pop out and that changed everything! Suddenly my wife decided she didn't want her son living in a "gun shop" (as she called it) and I reluctantly agreed to reduce the number. As it turned out, over a period of a few short years I eventually found myself living in a gun-less house! Oh my! Fast forwarding to the present. After many break-ins and robbery's around town (yes I still live in that same cow town) my wife agreed to let me get a handgun for home security so I called a friend, who by chance used to own a gun shop and before nightfall I owned a brand new, in the box, Ruger P-89. Of course then I gave her the big spill of how a person just ISN'T safe anymore on the streets and really should get a permit and carry a handgun for personal protection. Not giving her time to say no and since I had already applied for the permit, I pulled out and showed her the cute little Ruger LCP .380 that I had picked up that morning just to get a loud OMG and a death stare!!!! After a long, into the night, lecture on the rules that are to be followed concerning guns and the grandchildren (here we go again) she finally accepted and agreed to let me keep them. Since then I have also acquired a Walther P-22 and an SKS that a friend wanted to get rid of. Now that I think about it, the Meth lab/party house across the street might have had some bearing on her decision. ![]() Oh, did I mention that I'm the local gravedigger/sexton of the city-owned municipal cemetery for the past 29 years. Now THAT'S a cool job!!! ![]() |
