    Where's the bacon?
Where do you think the residents of Washington got the idea?

    Maybe from these guys?

My takeaway question is, how do they get that information from NICS checks? What question would the NICS investigator ask that would give them information that the sale was a private party transfer. As far as I knew, these transfers are handled like any other gun that goes out of a gun shop. Original owner brings gun to shop. Gun is logged into dealer's bound book. Buyer fills out 4473. Dealer calls in NICS (or web version), buyer pays transfer fee, buyer takes gun, dealer logs gun out.

I don't know where this info would come from.
