Anyone else think that having an Indiana CC permit should allow you to bypass the background check when purchasing a firearm? I know some states like North Carolina do this and I believe Indiana should join that movement and save paper.

The LTCH (AKA "Larry") did bypass the background check.

The solution is to lobby the General Assembly to allocate funds to enhance the ISP background check.

Like most everything else, it's a matter of money.

Everyone wants stuff and everyone wants someone else to pay for said stuff.

The better and cheaper solution is to repeal background checks. ;)

    Seconded.

Agreed. Why should we have to prove our innocence? If you suspect me of guilt of something, go looking. Otherwise, go talk to complainants who are victims of a crime, investigate the crimes, find suspects, and investigate THEIR backgrounds. Arrest as needed.

Admittedly, I'm not in LE and never have been, nor am I trying to tell people who do that job how to do it, despite how the above sounds. Is there a problem with the above, from a LE perspective? Granted, you're not going to find violators of traffic or drug possession laws without victims complaining, and I know that digs into the revenue stream, but from the POV of not constantly background checking innocent people, to me, this seems to make more sense.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Indiana's LTCH doesn't have a monthly NICS check performed to ensure non-Prohibited status for holders like Kentucky's CCDW...does it?

I don't think any state other than Kentucky does that.

I would be happy to keep the LTC background checks, including the federal NICS checks, as long as the same requirements applied to voter registration cards. :)

At one time, years ago, if you produced your Indiana Carry Permit, there was no mandated background check, but that ended, and I don`t recall why.
