Bubba got a hold of another one, it was a Swiss this time.

I picked this up the other day on kind of an impulse buy. I believe it's a Swiss K1911 that someone has re-barreled for .308. It's definitely an older sporter job but according to the previous owner its a nice shooter and the Williams sights are kind of nice. I may have a range report later today depending on the weather. It's a neat little rifle but I don't know if it'll ever get the attention and magazine that it needs. Awh man, my pic is upside down.

I picked mine up on an impulse buy back in 1987. It set me back $85. It has also been rechambered for .308 Win.
It's good to see another 1911 out there.

I bet that makes a pretty nice shooter in .308. That was my biggest problem with my Schmidt Rubin K1911. Fantastic rifle, but the ammo costs and availability were awful.

I wonder if anyone re-barreled any Steyr Manclichers in .308 from 8x56R?

Edit: I should have googled first.

Here's a thread about someone who rebarreled their M95 to 7.62x54R. Now there's a thought. My M95's barrel is completely trashed from just 80 years of corrosive ammo. I wonder how much it would cost to get it running in 7.62x54?

Tula, with a little stock work and some ingenuity that rifle could kick some serious backside. If you can't find a magazine, see if you can find someone with metal fab skills and make a flush sitting replacement.

Yall got me wanting to find a bubbafied Swiss now.

At least whoever did it did a fairly decent job. No JB welded bent bolt attached, barrel wasn't chopped, no tactical rail added.

Haha valid point. They didn't do the best job on the sites but they work. I just got done cleaning the surface rust off. They also didn't take the best care of it but it'll make a good single shot shooter (I'm not paying $100+ for a magazine)

I've found a few mags for $100 but I think that's still a bit steep. I never thought about making a flush mount plate. That's a good idea. I'm going to remove the rear site and work on making a scope mount for it

It may have had a mount at one time because there are two empty holes. I'm going to have a machinist friend of mine figure out the thread for me and see how straight they are

For some reason, even though they are not very valuable, I like some of the nicer versions of sportered military rifles. I don't have any though.

I have been looking for a good one of these for a while now. I'm already sitting on 200 rounds of 7.5x55mm swiss but still no rifle to shoot them.

Ive saw these and thought they would be really cool shooters but you never see much about them. Are they always straight pull. How do they stack up against other surplus shooters.
