    Because of VERT, I'm thinking about reloading. I also have a Savage 10 FCP-SR coming soon. I plan on putting an FFP Viper on top. I figure if I'm spending that much money, it might as well be on something that I can be proud of.

    Pride-inducing accuracy, I'm told, comes from a load tailored to the gun.
    I also know that a scope should be zeroed to the load you're shooting.
    My limited knowledge tells me that you need a zeroed scope to tell you which round shoots best.
    Anybody else starting to see a chicken and egg situation here?

    So how does one go about nailing all of this down?

    The scope doesn't need to be zeroed to shoot for groups. As long as you are on paper and use the same point of aim for five shots the group will give you an idea of the potential for that load.
