What will you use this for? Varments or range gun?

The Savage .410/.22lr is a pretty good gun. I think they offer different barrel combos also, but I'm not positive on that. Let me go look.

The model 42 is just 22 (LR or WMR) and .410.

The older model 24 can be had in various calibers and gauges.

The model 24, in all it's variations, are getting hard to find, and expensive when found.
That said, the 24 in .22lr/.410 is the quintessential squirrel gun in my arrogant opinion.

The model 42 seems to be an attempt to revisit the interest in the older sibling.
No real good idea about the model 42, but I do have a model 24, and I love it.
It is a fantastic trainer for small/new shooters.
Simple, accurate, rugged, and just plain pretty.

I'm a big fan of the savage 24 as well . Lots of different caliber and Gage combinations to choose from . I've never handled the newer 42 , but it definitely doesn't look as nice as the 24's

Just saw a model 24V at the Lafayette gun show yesterday.
It was .222Rem/20ga, and it was a beauty!
Seller thought so too, 'cause he want $725 for it!

I have a Savage 24 C that I will never get rid of...For a while I was on a kick with these things and even had a model 24 in 357/20 gauge but I am just down to the camper now...They are neat guns and have gotten a little pricey...
