So it's a bronze rifle that was painted black? I mean.. if you like it.. but why are the raised areas that would be worn off be the lighter bronze when the darker color is what it would be assumed the rifle is painted? is there a reason behind this?

Cop Car has a point. All battle worn rifles I've ever seen have had the worn areas the base color of the metal. And painted guns always wear high points first.

Has a kinda steampunk look to it. Not always a fan of that, but I think it works on that rifle.

This is the new trend. Look around at high end websites.

I was going for a kind of steam-punk look. It's supposed to be fun, not realistic.

My thought when I started this project was to do a straight Magpul OD green, but I started looking around at what others had done. I really liked the distressed look and found several versions like black over OD, FDE over black, and even a black over hunter orange that looked surprisingly good. I thought the black over bronze had the best look. Kind of a blending of old and new.

I think it looks good. Since you used cerekoted it will look worn anyways after a while of real use.

I don't know if this is going to wear at all after it completely cures. I let the bronze cure for a week before going over it with the black. When I roughed up the black with a green pad it didn't even scratch the bronze. Cerakote is tough stuff. This rifle won't get a lot of abuse anyway. It will just come out for 3 Gun matches. You are right, though. The beauty of the distressed look is that wear and scratches will just blend in. Thanks.

    I think it looks great.

Did you "rough up" the black while it was wet or just before it cured?

I bet the black over orange is eye catching?

Sniper gray over orange is one I have been wanting to try but have not been brave enough yet
