![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have owned two su-16 C models. I only sold them to consolidate firearms and to get money for other things... like paying Dr. bills. :< Both of them were great. M16 bolt and bolt carrier, gas piston. If you buy the C model you get the front sight built into the gas block instead of the breakable design on the end of the rifle. The C stock also folds to make it a 'pistol' like gun as well. They both shot everything I put through them, wolf, barnaul, PPU etc. They always shot well. Run the gun for about 150 rounds dry to really break it in and then break it down, clean and lube the bolt and carrier and sliding area inside the gun. The only down side to them is that they are SO light that .223 kicks like a .357 lever. Not hard, just almost uncontrollable. Spend the extra dollars and buy a very quality muzzle break and you will be able to control it exceptionally. They were worth the money, in fact, if I had the chance I would probably buy mine back from 4sarge on this site... I miss it now that the bills are caught up. :( Mine also worked with USGI mags really well. It's a good in truck gun, or a first time shooter... they also loved to have a simple quality scope for coyotes at 250 ish yards. factory sites are really the only negative. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The one I had felt sort of flimsy at the folding points and the sights were terrible (the adjusting of screws and hoping the sight post would not fall down when adjusting it or your POI would go up or down. Thankfully it had a small railed section on the top of the reciever, but I did not keep it long enough to mount any optic on it. Some AR parts work, but a majority of the rifle is Keltec, so parts would have to come from them. Nothing against Keltec's company integrity, but we have seen companies like this fold when an AWB is passed (Cobray?). I have their P3AT and love it, but I would not really go for another rifle. They are relatively accurate, but the light weight always bothered me (it can! ) in regards to recoil and percieved structural integrity. Its great to fit into a gym bag in the trunk with a few mags in case of emergency, but as a mainline rifle, it leaves much to be desired (at least I didn't just say "Get an AR!" ) The 1/9 barrel and chamber (not sure about the action, I didnt look close enough) was NOT chromed, so dirtier ammo may have some issues, not to mention longevity/ease of cleaning.I only hope Keltec's new bull pup rifle isnt too bad in the fit and finish department as the SU16 was. They make great "fixed" guns, the folding thing is cool, but they could use their low pricing, good technology and decent materials to make a great "fixed" rifle in .223. ![]() I see alot more of these questions popping up, like "how good is the Mini14" and "how are the keltecs" recently. I suspect stores (and from what I have seen) are low on AKs and ARs, but the "exotics" are always being stocked, like the Sigs, Mini, etc... Gotta go with what you have available I guess. All in all, they are DECENT rifles with a few cool things (gimmicks, but not in the bad sense), but they aren't a roll in the mud, fire cases and cases of ammo, stop nickle plated danger ranger invasion type of rifle. More of a backup, when a pistol wont be a very good choice.
