ar front sight pin question

i pushed that detent pin down and removed my front sight pin to file it down. the dentent pin isn't popping back up. is it spring loaded or am i missing something?

It should be spring loaded. Protect your eyes and push down and wiggle it with a punch , it may be hung up on a burr or something.

it finally popped out once i started shooting. it must have been stuck on something

Invest 5 or 6 bucks in a front sight tool. It's well worth it. I've carried one in my pocket for a long time. Makes proper sight adjustment a snap.

i have one on the way. i gound my front sight down today. i hate how a ar sight is so squared of. to me it makes it hard to get a exact zero so i just dremmeled it down. but i have the tool on the way for next time. im a very impatient man.
