![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't really know what a Mosin Nagant 91/30 is But we just bought one LOL. Actually, put it on layaway to hold it, and we'll pick it up next payday. Big R in Crawfordsville had this gun in their display last night. Sean (my son) said he saw one, and I told him he was bonkers. Sure enough, though, there it was. Cathy and I chatted about it, and decided it would be fun to own what may be a little piece of history. It's kind of neat to think that we own a gun that may have helped save the world from Nazis. That really kind of turned Cathy on, and helped sway her to agree to buying a gun we have no real practical use for right at the moment. It's date stamped 1942, with proofmarks from Izhevsk arsenal. Looked like most numbers match, though I didn't bother trying to find them all. The box said it was "Very Good +," and I reckon it was. Wood and metal looked good to me, what I could see of the bore through the cosmoline looked real good, with sharp and deep rifling. It comes with bayonet, sling, and ammo pouches with cleaning kit and some weird flask. Anyone have a clue what the flask would be? It's a silver thing with two capped openings. Hold gun oil, maybe? So, don't know what any of the above really means. Hope it's a good fun gun Paid $120, hope that's a decent price. I'm Googling now, but would love any input folks have to offer as to what I bought, and what we can expect from it! |

The flask is designed to hold cleaning solution on one side and oil on the other. Mosins receive much love hereabouts, but yes, 7.62x54r.net gives them much more. I just got mine a few days ago-haven't even cleaned the cosmo off of it yet. Once that's done, I'll get some ammo for the beastie. At least that's a gun that shoots for reasonably cheap. Congrats on your purchase! ![]() Blessings, Bill

![]() | Beware of Mosins. They can be very addictive. When my son brought the first one into the house, I didn't think much of it. Long story short, within a month, I had 3 of my own and we are well into the second can of ammo. The muzzle flash is something to behold. ![]()
