Older ruger vs new ruger 10/22

Have access to an older (1960s) ruger 10/22. Would this or a new ruger be better to bulid a "long range" shooter on?

I dont think it will matter as the specs have not changed... a little bit in material and the proccess but the biggest differance is in the coating... they now have a spray on finish not blued..... depending on the condition of the older one i dont think it will matter so much...

i didnt know it the receivers were made from different materials. The new one i have is aluminum i didnt know if the older one was different.

fingergroove sporter is the one i have.more collectable.dont customize that one

yes,made from 66 to 71,monte carlo walnut

I would prefer an older 10/22 with the blued receiver. My new one with the spray on coating has been flaking off especially on the inside were the bolt rubs it. It almost looks like a type of powder coating.

Older 10/22s had a anodized aluminum receiver - not blued.
