![]() | Vang Comp shotgun barrel I installed a Vang Comp shotgun barrel on my Remington 870. Took a trip to the range today along with another Deputy. We both shoot Wichester Classic buck shot from the 7, 15, and 25 yard lines. He was using a 870 Police Magnum that had been shipped to Wilson Combat for the Remington Steal Package (which includes no barrel work). From the 7 yard line you could tell some difference. But at the 15 and 25 yards lines the Vang Comp barrel stood out. At the 25 yard line all 9 pellets were in a USPSA standard target. Next trip to the range I will take my camera along from some pics. This is going to make a good home defense gun with my G27 as a backup. |

![]() | The Vang Comp system relieves the forcing cone and lengthens it, then I believe they overbore the barrel which keeps the shot pattern from deforming as it is forced down the barrel. They do some other tweeking as well to adjust the performance, very similar to most target shotguns on a skeet or trap range. You might try some other brands to see how they perform out of the same barrel. |
