Evil PINK Rifle? My daughter's AR build

Last summer my daughter, then age 12, was rushed from our local hospital to the University of Chicago Hospitals and was diagnosed with insulin dependent Type I Diabetes. It was the shock of our lives. But my daughter took it all in stride and while she was lying in the hospital bed learning how to give herself insulin injections she told me that she wanted a PINK RIFLE.

So late last summer I got about to putting together a gun for her. I started with an Olympic Arms Plinker Plus, stripped it apart and inserted a Ceiner 22 Long Rifle conversion bolt. The black plastic stocks came off the gun and a bright pink furniture went on in its place. The buttstock an A2 size, which has a 5/8" shorter length of pull making it easier for a large child/small adult to use. The scope and magazines were painted with pink Krylon FUSION paint, specifically designed to adhere to plastic. A hot pink sling was the finishing touch.

She loves the gun and is my shooting buddy. And I cherish the daddy-daughter time we get to spend out in the fields shooting together.

Thought some of you might find this an interesting project.

I think its a blast to shoot too

She has both types of Black Dog mags for that gun, the older style and the newer full body style. The old style are pictured in the photos.

For Valentine's Day this year she got a little pink Ruger.

What optics are you running on the pink rifle, and on the black one?

Both of those are cheap chinese NC Star scopes. I don't like them, and for a rifle shooting past 75 yards on a regular basis there is no way I'd ever buy one of these cheap scopes. As my daughter moves up from 22LR to 223 then her scope will be replaced with something better, probably a 3200 series Bushnell or a Nikon or something else that is mid-priced and has a reasonable degree of quality.

Both of these guns are short range plinkers, most shooting is done at 25 to 75 yards and given that one is chambered for 22 and the other for 9mm there is no reason to consider long range shooting with either gun. I'm actually not sure the NC Star will hold up to the recoil of the 9mm. Its only been on that gun one summer and is of obvious dubious quality.

On the Ruger 10/22 that I picked up for her for Valentines Day I mounted a fixed 4x Swift scope and that scope was inexpensive but is not as 'cheap' as these NC Star scopes. The Swift seems to show more obvious signs of quality too.

My girlfriend saw this good looking rifle you built for your daughter and now wants one like. Good reason for me to start a new project. LOL
