![]() ![]() ![]() | I have been watching those sights for some time and checked last night to see that they were finally available. I will be trying them for sure. They are a bit pricey at 125.00, but they are not much more then peep sights from Krebs (65.00). If anyone has any recommendations on the cheapest AK rear peep sight available, please feel free to share it! | Shooter | You should make sure you are getting windex with AMMONIA. Ammonia mixes with the salts formed during the burning of the powders and neutralizes them (prevents them from becoming an acid when mixed with water). When these light acids form, they electrolyze and start the rusting process. It is NOT necessary to windex right after you shoot. Remember, Windex is 98% water so that's why you are getting orange rust- it's most likely rusting of compounds in the powder residue. Here's a tip- don't spray them down with windex. Buy a can of ballistol- it neutralizes the salts just as well and it's an oil and cleaner. It smells kind of neat too. If you have to use windex, rinse the rifles in extremely hot water (so it evaporates) and completely spray with WD40. Really acrid smelling ammo? Like ammonia? That's why some AR15 ammo smells so nasty- the amount of ammonia-like chemicals in it to neutralize the salts. Is your ammo in a greenish casing with a little bit of lacquer and red sealant around bullet and primer? If it's gray with barely any lacquer then it's non-corrosive. |

As the other cases are still sealed, I can't say what those are. I'll assume it's all corrosive and act accordingly. | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have the Tech Sights TS200 on my Yugo SKS. Very good sight picture IMHO. I would equate it to an M1 Garand or M1 Carbine, or even an AR for that mater. I would say that while the elevation adjustable TS200 is nice, it has the smaller apperature. I think I would go with the larer apperature for most day to day plinking, and even close range self defense work if I would buy another. I like it on the SKS, so have every reason to believe it would be equally as good on the AK platform. Once I got used to shooting with a peep on my AR, it was hard to use a more traditional rear leaf sight.

The sight is fairly straight forward and easy to put on since the "T post" fits nice and tight in my rifle , with no wobble and I didn't have to file anything . After a quick change of the recoil spring it slid right in place . It feels pretty solidly built and has more weight to it than I expected , though I'm sure it weighs less than a pound . I'm going to use a laser bore sighter for now to be able to hit paper and do the fine tunning in about a week or two when I go to Don's . I KNOW , but it's the closest rifle range to me .
