I like the SKS and it's a proven performer. I used one in combat rifle matches in NC in the early / mid 80's.

Why do you say this?

Can you think of a situation you would run into on Indiana highways were a 10 rounds out of a rifle wouldn't solve the problem?
If you can't solve the problem with 10 rounds out of a rifle, chances are you aren't going to solve it at all.

I'd go with the SKS. Superior penetration to buckshot, much less recoil than slugs and stripper clips can be carried for quick reloading?

Its worth less so if it happens to get stolen you are not out as much money.
