![]() | I ended up buying a ruger 10/22 from Acme sports in Seymor. Was a better price than I saw online by about 75. Shoots great. Waiting till next weekend to grab some 30 round clips and a scope. It's my zombie plinker.

![]() | I've got a Marlin Model 60 and it's the best gun I've ever owned. Only downside is you are limited to the tube feed vs a high capacity mag. If you shop around, you can buy two Model 60's for the price of a 10/22. I'll take that tradeoff any day. |

![]() | Your going to get tired of reloading magazines. I have a nice quality T/C .22 Classic, and my fingers get sore after about 2 hours of jamming the rounds down them, I don't think the rotary mags on the 10/22 have this issue, but spring loaded 'standard' ones do. I recently got a Model 60 for the tube, 15 shots is plenty and add a Speed-D-Loader for $20 and I can reload quickly and easily with no sore fingers. Unless your a target shooter, your not going to out shoot the factory accuracy of most stock 22's anyways and Model 60's all shoot straight. 10/22 makes a great rifle if your willing to spend the $$ to buy things to modify it. With the Model 60, for $10 and some instructions on rimfire central you can modify the only bad thing on the rifle, the trigger to be a good one with no/little creep and and 3# break. If your into modding your rifles, that's about all you can do though. Mine currently feels like sandpaper, can't wait to do it. Going to Wal-Mart later. If you go used I much prefer the look of the old 60's, the new ones with no checkering look so plain and cheap. Last edited by feriil; 2 Weeks Ago at 08:06. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Being a youngun...kinda...the new tactical type .22's are very nice. Stay away from the Colt though. Many problems with that one. The SW MP 15-22 is the most AR like, even thought the colt is a better exterior replica, the Colt is full of pot metal and doesn't interchange with many aftermarket AR parts. The SW takes aftermarket pistol grips, buttstocks, triggers, has 1913 rails on the upper and a full railed handguard, and you can actually take the bolt out of the SW the same way you take the bolt out of a 5.56 AR, while the Colt requires barrel disassembly to to so. The other options for a tactical .22 right out of the box are the Ruger SR-22 and the Remington 597VTR and I have no experience with either one except that the SR-22 felt really good when I picked it up at the last 1500. The Ruger and Remington were both sub $400 OTD at the 1500, the SW was $430 OTD from Bob and the Colt is $500 plus most places I looked. |

![]() | I picked up a Marlin 795 over the weekend for $99 after a mail-in rebate at Dick's. Others' opinions on it are probably more valuable than mine since I've been a gun owner for all of two days, haven't fired a single rifle other than my Marlin, and have fired exactly ten rounds through it, but for what it's worth I'm pretty happy with it so far. The magazine only holds ten rounds, though, and a few minutes googling hasn't turned up anything with a higher capacity. Might be worth a look. |

I was thinking about one of the Colt M&Ps but I read a review that said the lower and upper were polymer. I was wondering about the long-term durability of that design. | |
