The lower is polymer and is no less quality than the Cav Arms lowers or any one of the myriad of polymer pistol frames. The upper is the same polymer and while I can't attest to it's long term durability it has some advantages in the near term like its lighter weight. Plus, SW has some very good customer service and will make most anthing right in terms of quality of construction. There are some other things to consider and a blogger has made a direct comparison of the Colt and SW rifles which I have posted below.

Kel-tec SU22 stock. 26 round mag, and can fit two 10 round mags in stock. Just a tad over 4lbs. unloaded. Lifetime waranty, and $390 out the door. It loves Remington, and Federal ammo but hates CCI. Factory sites are less then desirable, but an easy fix with a acog or red dot site.

Congrats on the 10/22! Definitely one of my favorites along with the marlin model 60. Just got a marlin 995 as a gift. hoping it proves to be as good as the 10/22's i've shot and a lot better than my mossberg 702
