buckshot in a muzzleloader?

Somebody mentioned a while back that he shoots buckshot out of his .50 cal muzzleloader. He said the patterns aren't real pretty but it works and it's a lot of fun! Anybody here tried it? How much BP and how much buckshot would you start with? This guy claims he just uses newsprint for a wad.

if you want decent rifling to last and maintian accuracy i would not suggest doing this through a rifled barrel... if you have a smoothbore muzzle loader, then shoot away... muzzleloading shotguns were more common in the prarie days than ones that shot balls.... gave more options, and small game was taken more often than large.

Given that a brand new .50 cal sells for $90 I'm not terribly concerned about the riffling in this barrel. As long as this is a good time, that is.
