![]() ![]() ![]() | You might want to think about using a bi-pod, or a bench rest. It will allow the shooter to get accustomed to the firearm without having to deal with a weight issue. Therefore it would allow the shooter time to "GROW" into the particular firearm.

![]() | I got both my sons Marlin semi's when they were 11 and 12 respectively. Got them at Wally world for about $60 ea. They have proven to be reliable, accurate guns that they learned the basics of target / varmint shooting with. They still go back to them today when they're home from college to "let off some steam" and have some downtime. One son put a small scope on his and the other prefers going open sights. Neither of them go off spraying bullets with the auto; they prefer to go for accuracy. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If he is big enough for a 10/22 size rifle I would look for a marlin youth rifle, the stock should be about the right size for him and IIRC the action will drop into the full size 'adult' stock so the rifle can grow with him.

![]() | a ruger 10/22 is hard to beat for a life long friend. i bought my 5 and 7 yr olds the rossi 22-.410 combo's. they are single shots which help them slow down and take the good shot and .410 they can take them to the woods to deer hunt with me. the bad part is they will outgrow them soon but at age 8 and 10 now they still fit good. |
