My New Project

Bought this last Tuesday, but due to getting my first deer I forgot about it haha. Its a Remington 700 Tactical in .308 with a 20" heavy barrel. It came with the new X Mark trigger set at 3.5lbs from the factory. Im very impressed with the trigger.

First and foremost, I plan on getting a quality scope mount (it came with a junk Weaver piece), quality rings, and a Super Sniper scope so that I can get it properly broken in before the ranges close for the winter. After that, I plan on purchasing a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock and a Harris bipod. Im still up in the air if I want to instal a CDI bottom metal for the AICS mags. Anywho, here are some starting pics of the rifle. Ill post new pics as the build progresses.

On a side note, once the build is finished, I plan on attending a sniper/long range precision course at US Tactical with it to hone my skills.

Just got the same thing (sps-v) this summer and finally got it out to the range the other day. They are a great gun, and even at factory stock the new trigger system is crisp and short. I've been looking at the Badger bottom metal or the Surgeon bottom metal. I'll probably do that at the same time I get a new stock (not sure what stock, so many options). Also looking to replace the bolt knob because that small one is a real pain to work with my scope on top. Probably a few other small things I'll do with it, but I think its gonna be a great shot.

Does yours have the 20" barrel? If so, what rounds did it like?

Did you get it used? I thought the Tactical's came with a Hogue Overmold stock with only 1 stud on the forearm.

Nice gun though, I have been considering ordering a 20'' Tactical for several weeks.

No I bought it used. The dealer said that it was a "special edition" with the varmint stock from one of their suppliers, but I would have much rather gotten the hogue. But this one was cheaper than I found the 20" at other places and the stock sucks (not even a pillar system, just polymer) but even if I got the hogue, Id replace it with a B&C stock anyways. Im just ready to get it broken in so I can put some holes in some paper haha.

Nice! I also like that B&C stock, pretty pricey though.

their not too bad at all. especially compared to the HS Precision line of stocks. The Medalist A2 that I like (Green with black web) is only like $215 at Stockystocks.com

That's not too bad, for some reason I was thinking that they were over $300.

Nice. I really want a rifle in .308. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pick that up for?
