I missed where it said "new AK line."

I figured it would be a departure from the Kalashnikov, which what the AN-94 is.

Also figured it would be based around that action.

If you think about 40 years ago in Vietnam it was AK47 against M16 and today it's essentially the same small arms face off in Iraq and Afghanistan. Granted both weapon systems have evolved since them. And the M4 is replacing the M16, the former soviet republics replaced the AK47 with the AK74 but still pretty much the same. So, yes it's old technology. And I am not surprised seeing Russia look into possible replacements, it's the same the US does with the HK 416 and the SCAR rifles essentially.

They kept the standard rear sight!? Why no apperature sight?! Now they need a standard issue "Acog", they will have it made!
