![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 7mm Mauser Always wanted a Mauser. Picked up a 7mm Mauser at a price I could not let get away. Soaking what appears to be years of gunk out of the barrel and off of the bolt overnight. I've never fired one of these but have heard many talk about how much fun they are to shoot. They are said to be very accurate out to some impressive ranges. Now the fun begins, gotta figure out exactly which Mauser I bought and how old it is. Overall it's in pretty good shape except for being a little dirty. Any advice for a newbie Mauser owner would be appreciated.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've seen plenty of 7mm mauser ammo at the gun show, should not be a problem. I've got it all cleaned up (she's PURDY). I'll take her for a quick checkup at the gunsmith to make sure all is good to go then off to the range. If I like it as much as I expect I'll probably get the die set and reload my own. Will do my best not to "shoot my eye out" or anyone in the butt.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Getting it checked out by a gunsmith is smart. If I could stop being a wiseass, it should have been my recommendation. You are wise to get it checked out before shooting it. But, still bring it out for matches. The next 100 yard offhand match at FWRR is the second Sunday in December at noon. Be there by 1130. Round count is 42. All slow fire standing. Two sighters, 20 shots for record in 25 minutes. Then 20 shots for record in 23 minutes. You can buttstroke me there.... Regards. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've got a spanish mauser in 7mm and love it! My grandfather gave it to me last year with a box of ammo, it is a kicker, it was hard for me to get used to. But I love shooting this, it has become a favorite with my friends as well.
